Undergraduate students who are travelling abroad under the auspices of Rensselaer (e.g. athletic team, club/student organization, faculty-led study/research trip) must register their travel plans with the Office of International Programs (OIP) and submit the documentation requested.  All student travelers who are U.S. citizens MUST register their trip/passport with the U.S. Department of State via the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program and must update their profile to reflect each trip taken. All students are asked to register for email alerts with International SOS, and to download the International SOS Assistance App by logging into the SOS membership portal.  SOS  membership cards can be printed from the portal.

Rensselaer does not support travel to countries in which there is an active U.S. State Department Travel Warning. Current Travel Warnings are posted on the U.S. Department of State website.

Students can register their upcoming trips in the OIP Travel Registry  by clicking the Register Now button.  Upon registration, an annual fee of $30 will be charged to the registrant’s Rensselaer student account if not already charged for a previous trip within the past 365 days.   Registration is required. Students who fail to register risk a hold on their Rensselaer student account.

IMPORTANT:  Students who are submitting an application for a program administered by the OIP DO NOT need to register in the Travel Registry.  Travel registration for OIP administered programs will be included in the application process.
