University and Location
The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) was founded as the College of Technology in 1829.  Today DTU  is known as an innovate leader in research and education offering over 40 graduate and undergraduate programs in many engineering and science fields.  With a student population of roughly 6,000, DTU offers students the opportunity to study in an open-minded, research-based learning environment.  Located in Lyngby, 15km north of the capital city of Copenhagen, the DTU  campus consists of modern academic facilities, and exchange students may participate in a variety of extracurricular activities.  Copenhagen is easily accessible by public transportation and offers a wealth of cultural, historic and recreational sites and activities in one of the most energy-efficient countries in Europe.
Language Requirements
Research is conducted in English.  Courses are offered in Danish and English; no knowledge of Danish is required.
The Arch Semester Away
Students who attend DTU during the Semester Away of their junior year will undertake a research project under the supervision of a DTU faculty member.  Students must propose a project and identify a DTU supervisor.  Students will register for a special DTU research course.  The number of DTU credits assigned for the course will be agreed upon by the student and research supervisor, but should be no less than 20 ECTS credits (i.e. the equivalent of 10 Rensselaer credits).  Students may enroll in additional coursework to supplement the research project.  Please note:   Credits earned on this program are not transferable to the Rensselaer degree.  However, student participants will receive a DTU transcript as a record of their research experience and any courses taken.
Program Dates
Fall: Late August-Mid December Spring: Late January-Early June

Summer Arch students will have exchange student status at DTU and will be expected to participate in the welcome orientation program at the beginning of the term.
Application Procedures
