University and Location
POSTECH is one of the world's leading science and technology research-oriented universities. Its 3,000 students, 800 researchers and 230 faculty members represent the brightest minds studying and researching on a large campus with state-of-the-art facilities located on the southeastern coast of Korea. Tourism is popular because Pohang’s eastern coastal areas offer relaxing beaches and picturesque views. The mountainous region hosts Bogyeong and Oeo Temples, which are popular hiking sites. With remnants of an old fishing village and the nation’s latest advancements, Pohang is truly a mixture of the old and the new, both traditional and modern cultures.

With the launch of the bilingual campus, all official activities of POSTECH are written and conducted in both Korean and English.

Accommodation and Meals
Most exchange students are assigned to Dormitory for International Cultural Exchange, (DICE). DICE is a self-governed dormitory in POSTECH, where Korean and international students live together to share different cultures and interact with each other.

Course load
Students are required to register for a minimum of 15 credits up to a maximum of 22 credits.

Evaluation
A student shall receive a grade based on his/her overall performance pertaining to various criteria including examinations, assignments, and attendance. However, separate criteria may be used to evaluate a student’s performance in special courses such as experiment and laboratory courses. POSTECH uses a grading scale ranging from 0 - 4.3. Rensselaer students will only receive credit in courses where a grade of 2.0 or better is earned. All classes must be taken for a grade and not on a pass/fail basis.

Cost of Living
There is no POSTECH tuition fee required for exchange students, however students are responsible for other costs including housing fees. It is difficult to give an exact estimate of how much money you will need while at POSTECH, mostly because student expenses will vary according to lifestyle and travel. However housing fees for exchange students is KRW 400,000/Semester (approx.US$350).
